FAQ

Q: Are you a “real model”? Is this full time for you? Etc.
A:
Yes.

Q: What got you into modeling? How did you start?
A:
A friend of mine is a makeup artist, and she was looking to update her portfolio. Her parents are professional photographers, so it was pretty for her to set it all up. She came up with the plans to do a shoot related to vampires and other horror makeup. She sent out a Facebook event invitation to her friends and asked people that were interested in being a part of it to let her know. I got the invite and let her know that I wanted to be a part of the shoot. (I had wanted to be a model when I was younger, about 13, and got a call back audition thing at a casting, but never really did anything about it, so I forgot about it.) I did a few different shoots with her and her parents and other friends of ours that wanted to be involved with it, and I realized I really loved being a model. I decided to focus on school, so I didn’t really pursue it. A few months later, a few of my friends contacted me and said they’d seen the pictures from that shoot, and that they had assignments for their photography classes that needed models, and wondered if I would work with them on it. After those few shoots with my friends I realized that I really had a passion for the industry, and wanted to pursue it more seriously. I basically threw myself into becoming a successful model, and I’ve been doing it ever since.

Q: How long have you been modeling?
A:
My first professional shoot was in June of 2009, then I took a break for 6 months. And in December of 2009 I started to do what I needed to make a career out of it.

Q: What hair dye do you use?
A:
I’m currently trying out a few different dye brands after being exclusive to Splat for 6 years. The brands I’d recommend are Splat, Special Effects, Arctic Fox, and Pravana.

Q: How often do you have to redye your hair?
A:
Only when my roots start to grow out, or if I want to touch up some spots if I missed them. I usually end up redyeing it before the color starts fading too much.

Q: Do you dye your hair yourself, or do you go to a salon?
A: I dye it myself or with the help of a friend.

Q: What do your family and friends think of your modeling?
A:
I’m honestly not sure what most of my family thinks about it. My mom is incredibly supportive, as is my step dad. Their opinions are honestly they only opinions that matter out of my family members. 🙂

Q: Will you shoot with me?
A:
If you are interested in working with me, please check out this page.

Q: Do you have travel plans to come to MY area?
A:
All of my travel plans are posted on my website, ModelMayhem profile, modeling Tumblr, Blogspot, and Facebook (links above). If you would like me to contact you when I am in your area, send me a message via ModelMayhem or model.chelsea.christian@gmail.com with your location and a way to contact you, and I will let you know when I am in your area.

Q: What body mods do you have?
A:
 Multiple tattoos (see below).

Piercings – one hole in each ear lobe, industrial piercing in left ear, labret piercing

Q: What do your tattoos mean?
A:
  – The 5 pointed star is a symbol of protection. I currently have 7 stars (one on each wrist, one on each shoulderblade, one on each hip, and one on my left foot).
Stars on my hips and shoulders were done by the same artist (name and shop unknown). Stars on my wrists were done at Bodytech in Gainesville, FL.
– The star on my left foot is also to remind me of the love my mom has for me. She and I got matching star tattoos on her 55th birthday. Instead of having a pair of stars like on my hips, wrists, etc, I have one on my left foot and she has the other on her right foot.
Our matching stars were done at Bodytech in Gainesville, FL.
– The swallows on my calves are for my grandmothers. My maternal grandmother passed away August 2012 and it hit me very hard, since we were very close. My paternal grandmother passed away September 2013, and we were very close as well. They were some of my biggest supporters, and I owe them a lot for their pushing to help me get into music and other things I love. One of my favorite memories of both of them is bird watching. I got the swallow tattoos to remind me of their love and undying support for me in my life, and to keep them with me.
Both swallows were done by Kim Wells at Death Or Glory in Gainesville, FL.
 – The portrait of a kitty on my left side is of my little girl, Sylvanas. I could do on and on about how awesome she is and how much I love her. But I won’t do that. 😛
Done by Cricket Elijah at Rosewater Tattoo in Portland, OR
Nerd/Geek culture is currently a big thing, but it’s something I’ve always loved. And I like showing other people which fandoms I’m a part of. I suffer from severe depression and anxiety, and have my whole life. These video games, movies, and tv shows helped me through very tough times, along with the wonderful people I’ve met because of them.
My current nerd/geek related tattoos:
– Lightsaber from Star Wars on the inside of my right index finger.
Done by a friend in Atlanta, GA, and touched up by another artist in Washington, D.C..
– Horde Symbol from World Of Warcraft behind my left ear.
Done at Death Or Glory in Gainesville, FL.
– Companion Cube from Portal and Portal 2 behind my right ear.
Done at Death Or Glory in Gainesville, FL.
 – Pokeball on the back of my right arm
Done by West Mayberry at Rose And Dagger in Portland, OR.

The placement for all of my tattoos has no real meaning. I just put them where I thought they’d look best.

Q: What are some things you would like to shoot?
A:
There are a few things that I would love to shoot, but I have a photo blog that I keep up specifically for pictures that I would like to do shoots similar to as far as themes, outfits, poses, style, etc.

Q: Who did your website/Tumblr/ModelMayhem/etc.? Who runs your sites?
A: I did, and do.

Q: Any photographers you don’t recommend?
A:
Yes. Contact me personally for a list. 🙂

Q: What instruments do you play?
A:
I am concert percussionist, so I can play a plethora of percussion instruments and have experience teaching others to play them as well. While concert percussion is my favorite, I am most often hired to play drum set for musicals or private gigs. I currently own a 5 piece drumset, 4.3 octave Marimba, djembe, and a lot of other small percussion instruments.

You can check out video of some of my performances (and my friends) here.

Q: You’re a gamer? What games do you play? What systems?
A: Yep. I have been an avid World of Warcraft player for a while now. I also really enjoy Portal 1 and 2, the Devil May Cry series, Bayonetta, Uncharted series, and many others. I’m always looking for new games to play. My favorite systems are PC, PS4, and PS3. 🙂

Q: What health problems do you have?
A:
Fibromyalgia, Autonomic Dysfunction, and Vasovagal Syncope among some others. You can read about them here.

Q: Where else are you online?
A:
Lots of places! Check out this page for a list.
