If you’ve been following my Instagram or Facebook, you’ll notice that I haven’t really been shooting all that much lately.

After we moved out here we kind of got stuck in a bit of a limbo trying to figure out things with my fiance’s job. The hiring process took forever and we couldn’t schedule anything because he would get a call one day and need to go in the next day for training or something else. The one time I actually scheduled anything, he got a call saying he had to go in for a class and to turn in some more paperwork. It was very frustrating, but necessary.
So now that he’s working and our schedule is more reliable, it still limits what we can do. Not only is he working nights, but he works 12hr shifts, 6 days a week. Sunday’s are his only days off, and therefore the only days that I can really do anything. We’re working on figuring out how I can get stuff done on the weekdays while he’s working, but since he has the car it’s proving to be a bit difficult.

On top of our crazy schedule that we’re managing, we have 4 kitties between us and our roommates. And those kitties decided to make friends with fleas…who wouldn’t leave, and apparently find me incredibly tasty. So for the past month or more I’ve had bites all over me and I kind of look like a fucked up connect-the-dots game, lol. And I scratch while I’m asleep, so that’s made everything much worse. And I bruise super easily, so I’ve got tiny bites, sores that have been scratched larger, bruises from scratching…and just a general plague-victim feeling. And I would absolutely hate to make anyone have to edit out all of this craziness, or cover it up with makeup.
After a round of flea treatment failed a month ago, we have finally flea-bombed the apartment and done more flea treatments, and the kitties are acting less angry and itchy, so I think we’re finally evicted the fleas and I should be back to a non-itchy human soon. Hopefully, lol.

I also took a break from the internet even more recently and stopped uploading new photos or anything. I was taken by surprise by the loss of my cousin. Not only was it sudden and unexpected, but I have a really hard time handling loss when I know it’s coming, much less when it’s sudden. I’ve kind of retreated from the world. Taking some time to myself and avoiding life seems to have helped though, and I should be back to my usual updates asap! 🙂

So that’s what’s going on with me. I should be back to shooting regularly in November, and hopefully will be doing more stuff with awesome people when I bring myself to leave my apartment. 😛 (Seriously, someone come kidnap me and take me to the city!)

My last shoot in Gainesville before we left for our cross-country tour/move was completely perfect because it was with my amazing fiance, Michael Aaron Photography, and my gorgeous best friend, Formaldehyde Flower.
We knew we wanted to shoot together before we left, but we didn’t know quite what we wanted to shoot, so we threw some stuff in the car and headed over to Formaldehyde Flower’s house. And after hanging out with all of her pets and catching up, we finally figured out what to shoot and set to getting ready.

We started out with a haunting goth setup in her dining room with beautiful red walls that were the perfect background for the mood we wanted. I love the tone of the photos and how they came out, and she had the absolute perfect wigs to pair up for our looks!

Then we changed into some matching lace lingerie (me in black, she in purple), grabbed a glass of wine, and headed out onto her back porch to lounge around sipping our drinks. Unfortunately it was incredibly mosquito-y outside and since we were wearing very little, we were getting eaten up. But the photos came out great, and we took a bunch of silly face photos at the end!

And to end the shoot I switched roles, and Formaldehyde Flower switched looks, and I shot her in an adorable pin-up set in her lavendar parlor on a beautiful wing-back chair that we’ve been trying to use in a shoot for over a year!

She is an amazing model who can span a huge variety of looks and can do a ton of looks with expert makeup and hair/wig styling. And she’s a captivating performer as a burlesque dancer with the Mischievous Madams Burlesque Troupe and The Manic Menagerie Vaudeville Company in Gainesville, Florida, as well as other location while she travels. Go see her perform!

I met Della Darling through Formaldehyde Flower and Sally B. Dash, as she is a member of the Gainesville burlesque community. We shot her in a few of the Mischevious Madams Burlesque Troupe performances around town, and she had a signature style to her that you just cannot deny.
After she saw that photos we shot for Sally, she contacted Michael and I for a shoot, and we excitedly prepared for the shoot.

She also needed promo shots for her burlesque acts, so we shot a bunch of her outfits.
We started with a beautiful white lingerie ensemble for her fan dance called “The White Swan”.
Then she changed unto an ultra-glamorous dress, that she hand-rhinestoned herself, and completed the look with a super fluffy white feather boa for a set called “Why Don’t You Do Right?”.
And we completed the shoot with a pinup on pointe look with a black corset trimmed in gold fringe and a cage veil. It was my favorite look of the day. This set is called “My Foolish Things”.

We had an amazing time working with Della. She was a great model and super sweet girl. And she is a mesmerizing performer. If you are in town when the Mischevious Madams are performing, you should absolutely go check out one of their shows. You will be very glad that you did!

I shot with Tampa Glamour at a studio in Tampa that I’ve shot at a few times before, but this time we used totally different areas that I didn’t even know were there. We had a pinup shoot, and it was a ton of fun. We shot in this adorable polka-dot dress set up, some lingerie, with an antique gun, some nude, and in a bubble bath!

I haven’t seen any photos from the shoot yet, but I bet they’re adorable!

Sally B. Dash has been a great friend of mine for years (since I was at least a freshman in high school and she was in a musical that I played drums for) and so when she hired Michael and I for a photoshoot I was so excited!
She is not only absolutely gorgeous on the outside, but she is beautiful on the inside, too! Super sweet and wonderfully talented. I’m so happy I get to share her beauty with the world!

She needed promo shots for her burlesque acts (she performs with The Manic Menagerie in Gainesville, Florida), so we started with a set called “Puttin’ On The Ritz” with an adorable sequined bow-tie and hat, and I had a cane in my car, so we completed the look!
Then we shot a set I’m calling “Scarlet Sweatheart” that has a more pin-up vibe where she wore a beautiful red corset and thigh-high stockings.
Third, we shot a set for her “Pink Panther” act with amazing bright pink sequined shorts.
And we completed the shoot with a purely pin-up photoset in her retro kitchen in 50’s housewife garb, and she was perfect!

We had such a great time working with Sally, and her adorable puppy and kitty who helped. She’s a great model and performer. If you’re in the Gainesville area when she’s dancing, I highly recommend that you go check it out! You’ll not regret it.

Erick Paul Photography and I had been talking back and forth, off and on, for years about setting up a shoot, and finally Erick came up with a concept that we both absolutely loved and we set a date.
The concept? Maleficent.
Maleficent has been my absolute favorite character from any movie for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl, and all of my friends wanted to be Disney princesses, I wanted to be Maleficent. My first costume that I ever designed (at 11 years old) was for Maleficent (a more modern take on the outfit with leather and silk). I jumped at this idea and was excited, even though I knew we’d be one of many to do this with the movie coming out a few months later.

Erick had the costume sent to my house and as soon as we made sure everything fit right we set a date. He also found a wonderful makeup artist to complete our team.

We met at a studio in Orlando and hung out for a bit before setting to work. The makeup artist, TrinityMUDesigns, did an amazing job creating a look that blended the classic Maleficent look with modern glamour.

I had a great time shooting this!

I had the opportunity to shoot with Fraulein Ehrhardt for High Gloss Dolls, and it was a wonderfull shoot. We shot a variety of latex lingerie and even a full latex mask! I had a wonderful time, and highly recommend their products. They have some of the best latex out there and I would fill a closet with it if I could!
I haven’t seen any shots from the shoot yet, but I hope I get to soon!
