69 shoots in 63 days. A recap of my East Coast Tour!

Posted by Chelsea Christian on September 8, 2012
Posted in: Uncategorized.

This post has been a long time coming. I returned home a couple months ago, but right after I got home my grandmother’s health took a turn for the worse and I became completely focused on that for about a month until she passed away. We were very very close, so I’ve been mourning and understandably distracted. But I think it’s about time I wrote this! 🙂

As most of you know, for over 2 months this summer I could be found travelling all over the East Coast. It was quite an adventure, and I had such a great time. Most cities we landed in were places I had never been before, and some (like NYC) were places that hold a place in my heart. I made some amazing friends along the way and was able to see other friends again! I had soooo many shoots and, even though a small percentage of shoots were…uhhh…less than enjoyale, I loved working with those I met with along the way! I got to work with most people for the first time, shoot again with others, and work with some people that I’ve admired their work for years!

Let me sum up the trip a little:
 – 63 Days
 – 69 Shoots
 – 132 People I worked with
 – 14 States, 20 Cities
 – 5827+ Miles driven (minimum)
 – 117hrs, 43mins Spent driving (minimum)
 – 4 Car repairs
 – 4 Publications
 – 17 Sets published on Zivity (13 shot during the trip)
 – 2691 Pictures I have from shoots (so far)

This trip was a phenomenal success and I really cannot thank the people that helped make it happen enough!

This is a list of the main people I worked with on the trip that I want to extend my thanks to, but this is definitely not everyone I should list, there were many hosts, secondary photographers, assistants, studio owners, artists, makeup artists and hair stylists I never got the name for, and many others that I thank as well. 🙂

I really cannot thank everyone I encountered on this trip enough. There were good times, there were truly epic times, there were stressful times, and there were confusing times, but I will cherish all of them. 🙂

Please check out all of the pictures that I took on the trip here: Album

I’ll be posting pictures that my bf took on the trip also, and I’ll post pictures from shoots on the trip soon as well! I can’t wait to share everything with all of you.

And thank you to all of you that have been supporting me as friends and fans and anything else. I love getting your feedback and interacting with you. You guys are so great! I wish I could take you all out and buy you a drink. Unfortunately I don’t have the money for that, or know of a bar big enough, but I really wish I could do more to thank you for your support.

THANK YOU!!!!

Shoots with Jeff Duran, foxharvard, SteffanieCruseDickerson, John Sloan Photography, Agent Pendergast, Matthew Westerman, DEEB, and Corwin Prescott!

Whew! So, I usually write a blog about each shoot as I post images from the shoots, but in getting ready for my big East Coast trip, I totally forgot to write blog posts about these shoots! So, to remedy that, I’ll be writing about all of them here. 🙂
They won’t be as in-depth as I usually write, but it will get everyone caught up to date on the shoots that I’ve published shots from! Yay!

I’m only going to include 1 shot from each shoot in this entry, but lots of shots from each one can be found in different sections here. 🙂

Jeff Duran:
Shoot date: January 27, 2012
This was my first shoot with Jeff, and I had a lot of fun. We started out with just some portraits and headshots,  moved on to some stuff with masks (as you can see from the image above), did some pseudo-fetish work, and finished with some art nudes. He was a great guy to work with, and even in first message (which included every details I need to plan something) he made a good impression.
The only complaint I had was that it took forever to actually get the images he promised me in his initial message. He originally only sent me like 3, and nothing else. I found more posted to his MM account, but he never replied to my message asking if he could email them to me so I had to save them off of his MM account. Then 2 days ago he finally responded and sent me a few more. The shoot was in January and it took 6 months to get the images. :/
But his pleasant demeanor and the outcome of the images make it so I would definitely work with him again. 🙂

foxharvard:
Shoot date: January 27, 2012
I always love shooting with Fox. I love his style of images and personality. I always walk away feeling like we created amazing images. 🙂 This time I got to shoot with his kitties also, so I was ecstatic! 😛
This was our second shoot together, and it was just as fun as the first.
I think I said this last time I blogged about our shoot together, but if you get the chance to shoot with him, you should definitely take it. You will love the shots, and have a great time. 🙂

 SteffanieCruseDickerson:
Shoot date: January 27, 2012
Steffanie is one of the most adorable photographers that I have ever worked with. While not from Florida, she is a friend of Fox’s and was staying with him when I came to shoot with him. I’m so happy she was there because I had a wonderful time shooting with her. We didn’t shoot very long,  but I love the shots. I with that she lived closer so that we could work together more often. 🙂
Lots of laughs and fun moments ensued. 😛

John Sloan Photography:
Shoot date: January 28, 2012
This was my second shoot with John Sloan Photography, and it wasn’t near as enjoyable as the first. Although that had nothing to do with John. For being in January, it was unusually hot and sticky outside with lots of bugs. Yuck! But I think the shots came out pretty good, despite the heat.
An awesome friend of mine is the designer behind Supernova Designs, and she lent me a bunch of accessories to shoot a few months ago, and I’ve been slowly working them into shoots. 🙂 This was the first shoot I was able to do that, and I love how it shows off her handywork. I’ll be shooting more soon and will have awesome new pictures of them soon as well. 🙂

 Agent Pendergast:
Shoot date: February 4, 2012
I shot with this photographer while he and his family were vacationing at a resort in Orlando, Florida. 🙂 They were originally from New Jersey, and were headed down to enjoy our beautiful weather.
We only shot for about an hour, but it was a lot of fun. This was my first shoot done almost entirely with Instax film (a medium I’m discovering is gaining more and more popularity among photographers and models alike). I love the final images and cannot wait to work with him again when I am in New Jersey!

Matthew Westerman:
Shoot date: February 6, 2012
This was an interesting shoot. We had originally discussed shooting a concept he had with mud and another with glitter. After we first scheduled the shoot I got really really sick and we had to postpone the date. About 6  months later we rescheduled and started talking about those concepts again. Everything was according to plan until a couple of days before the shoot. Then he sent me a message saying that we would be shooting in a consignment shop, but still told me to bring towels so that I could easily get the glitter off of me and such, so I thought we’d somehow be doing the same stuff.
When I got there the shop was still open to the public, and he wanted to shoot me shopping. I tried shopping and posing, which he told me to ignore the camera. Then I started to do that and he told me I wasn’t smiling for the camera enough. It was really confusing.
Then we shot in the clothes he picked out for me in the dressing rooms, which involved me constantly ducking back in the corner because the store patrons were still utilizing the store.
It was really awkward, and we shot nothing that we had originally discussed, and I felt really confused because I could tell that he hadn’t exactly gotten permission to be shooting nudes in the open by the people that opened the store. :/

DEEB:
Shoot date: February 6, 2012
I shot with this photographer the evening after my shoot with Matthew Westerman. He actually sent me an email that day and I just happened to log in to my email before heading back out of town to head home. I’m really glad I did. 🙂
Shooting with him was a welcome change from the confusing awardness of my previous shoot. He has a wonderful studio, was really laid back, and I just had a really great time.
The shots from this shoot have a little bit of a different look to them than other shoots that I usually do. They’re very raw and I love the colors he brought into them. 🙂

Corwin Prescott:
Shoot date: February 7, 2012
I have wanted to shoot with Corwin for the longest time and I finally got my chance when he and Vaunt were travelling through Florida! I met up with him on one of his last night in the state all the way in Jacksonville, and we shot this awesome fetish-y set for Zivity (You can check out the entire set here.)
I had such a great time shooting with him and talking to him. He’s a percussionist also, and it’s always nice to meet people I can connect with on that level. 🙂
I can’t wait to shoot with him again when I pass through Philadelphia on my tour this summer!

So, that’s all of the shoots I need to catch everyone up on. Although I only posted 1 shot from each shoot, you can always find more from each shoot on my Tumblr, DeviantArt, and Flickr accounts! 🙂

Shoot with thephotoman2

Posted by Chelsea Christian on April 13, 2012
Posted in: Uncategorized.

Shoot date: January 22, 2012

thephotoman2 was in Florida for a conference and decided to shoot some models during his free time. I love that a lot of businesses hold their conferences in Florida, because it means that I get the opportunity to work with more people while they’re on those trips.

We met on the beach in Jacksonville, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It was sunny, but not too hot. Breezy, but not cold. Just beautiful (which I found amusing because it was January).
All kinds of people were on the beach, so we only shot part of the shoot on the beach, and then made our way to the hotel.

Once we were at the hotel we shot on one of the beds in the beautiful natural light from the window, moved to the bed and I got to play with the curtains, and then we finished in the shower. 🙂

Unfortunately I haven’t seen any images from the shoot yet. 😦 But I hope I get to soon, because I really hope to be able to share this photographer’s work and encourage more models to work with him. I really enjoyed the shoot and feel like the images had to have come out wonderful. 🙂

Shoot with John Sloan Photography

Shoot date: January 15, 2012

This was my first shoot with John Sloan Photography, and I can’t have been more pleased with the shoot.

I met a few hours before the start at the the MUA’s (Megan Hill) house, and she did a beautiful natural, yet classic, look on my with red lips and curled hair. Any time someone curls my hair I am amazed, because I can’t get it to curl to save my life. It’s just like magic to me. Not only did she curl it, but I wasn’t able to get it to straighten out for about 2 days later! 😛

We decided on formal wear, so I grabbed some of my fanciest dresses and headed out with John to the location!

We shot at this fascinating quarry near-ish Newberry, Florida. It was a little more of a walk/hike than I had anticipated (otherwise I would have worn real shoes and not flip-flops, lol), but it was completely worth it! The weather was beautiful, and no one was around to interrupt.

I”m not even going to try to fit the images into this one post, as there are so many amazing ones, and he keeps finding new awesome ones to edit (even 3 months later)!

There are a bunch in my portfolio on here, and the rest can be found on my DeviantArt, Tumblr, and Flickr!

Charity, Publications, and a Few Small Updates :)

Posted by Chelsea Christian on April 4, 2012
Posted in: Uncategorized.

I am currently involved with a few things that have proceeds going directly to various charities. You should get involved and help out! It’s for a good cause. 🙂

– For the entire month of April, 50% of all print sales from my website are going to TWLOHA (a charity for depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide). This is a subject I am close to because I suffered from some of those thing in my past. So, please, if you have the funds, purchase a print. The 50% that is not going to charity is going to the printing, packaging, and shipping, so I’m really not doing this for me.
You can purchase prints here: https://chelseachristian.com/purchase/purchase-prints/

– The Modified Dolls’ newest magazine is out, and I’m in it (photographed by Pissed Off Pistol Photography). Proceeds from this magazine are going to the charity Autism Speaks. It’s inexpensive, and also helps a great cause.
You can purchase a copy here: http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/366558/follow

Ok, so those are the only things I’m currently doing to benefit charity, but I have a lot more things in the works. 🙂

Other updates:

– Licked Magazine’s 2nd edition was published, and I’m in it (photographed by John T Photography, makeup by Jessie Marie Makeup Artistry, and hair by Intertwine Hair Design).
You can purchase a copy here: http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/365792
I will also be offering the image of me that is in the magazine as a print from my site. Watch for it to be release very soon here: https://chelseachristian.com/purchase/purchase-prints/

– With the release of the Instagram app for Android, I’m now on Instagram! Follow me: chelseachristian
I’ll have lots of pictures from my daily life and behind the scenes shots from shoots. 🙂

– I am still booking for my trip up the East Coast. Dates can be found on my main page.

Shoot with MMP HH (Michelle Carpenter Photography)

Posted by Chelsea Christian on March 22, 2012
Posted in: Uncategorized.

This shoot was wonderful. It was with MMP HH, with Glam U by Monica on makeup, Jahzel Montano on hair, and UntitledThoughts Design with wardrobe.

It was my last shoot of my trip to Atlanta, and my last shoot of the year for 2011. AND my favorite image from the shoot is the last frame we shot. 🙂

I simply cannot begin to tell you how amazed I still am at the images from this shoot. Not because I didn’t think that they would come out because of Michelle, I just didn’t have confidence in my abilities. I am so happy with these images. I thin I think I have half of them on MM, lol.

I don’t want to say much more, because I really want the focus to be on the images. 😛

I didn’t post them all here, but you can view them all on my Tumblr, Flickr, and DeviantArt. 🙂

Updates About My Cancelled Trip :)

Posted by Chelsea Christian on March 12, 2012
Posted in: Uncategorized.

As a lot of people know, I cancelled my trip to New Orleans, which also meant that I wouldn’t be able to make it to Mobile, Pensacola, and Biloxi.

I planned the trip because of the amount of people in the area that said they would work with me when I was there. When I contacted those people once I worked out the dates, 1 person replied to me. Only 1. So… yeah… I can’t continue forward with a trip without enough shoots planned to even cover my gas.
I do have a long list of names and places for people who want to work with me when I am in their area. If you had me add your name to my list, please respond to me when I contact you about my trip to your area. Even if it’s a message saying “Right now doesn’t work for me, but let me know next time you are in the area.” If you don’t think you can respond to me, please let me know to remove your name from my list.

Anyway, when I announced that I was cancelling my trip, many people expressed that they were sorry about it. I appreciate that, but I wasn’t sorry I had to cancel. I saved myself from potentially losing hundreds of dollars on the gas and hotel accommodations. Cancelling it also gave me the opportunity to actually enjoy my first real vacation in 5 years and go to the beach with my boyfriend, kitty, and good friend who was on leave from the marines. 🙂 We had a wonderful time at the beach. I will be posting lots of pictures here.

So, I am still in Florida, and will be here for a couple of months until my trip up the East Coast. I don’t have any specifics set yet, but if you are anywhere between Gainesville, Florida, and New Hampshire and would like to shoot, please let me know. 🙂
